METHOD:
(Example modpack used here is ‘Create above and beyond’ and ‘OriginsSMP’ on curseforge)
Get MultiMC and download the version appropriate for your Operating System.
Extract the .rar file into a folder.
Select your User Interface language and press Next.
Install Java 8 from this link. Make sure the PATH is selected to Java 8 (1.8.0_291) if you are playing modpacks for MC 1.16.5 and below.
Here you can allocate the maximum and the minimum memory your MultiMC launcher can use. (recommended allocation depends on the modpack and your system specs)
After allocating memory click on Next.
Quick tip: Use Java 8/1.8.0_291 since ‘Create Above and Beyond’ fails to load 2 mods with Java 16/17 and above.
Quick tip: Use Java 16 when launching ‘OriginsSMP’ since it runs on minecraft 1.17.1.
It is recommended to turn off analytics (But hey you can skip this step if you want to)
Click on Finish to complete the launcher setup.
Click on Don't update yet , else your Laucher will be overwritten and you will not be able to add Local accounts if using this version of MultiMC.
Click on Profiles , and click on Manage Accounts .
Here click on Add .
A pop-up will appear with forms for email address and password.
If adding a Local account, Click on Local and type your ‘Username’ in the email form and any random group of letters in the password form.
If adding a Mojang/Ely.by account, Click on Mojang/Ely.by , type your email address associated with your account and do the same for the password.
This is a Local account with your username (this will be your in-game name)with a desired password for your account.
After writing your credentials click OK.
Click on Add Instanceto open the menu for searching for modpacks and installing them on your system.
We are installing Create Above and Beyond and OriginsSMP modpack in this example so click on curseforge and type ‘Create Above and Beyond’ on the search bar (highlighted with yellow ).
Select the version you need and Click on OK.
Do the same for OriginsSMP.
Note: Use Version 5.2.1 for OriginsSMP as it runs on 1.16.5 as it is the most updated and stable version for now.
Let the downloads finish and then you are ready to play.
Select your modpack and here we are using the Create Above and Beyond pack to demonstrate. Click on Launch. It will then download the required assets and launch the game.
Once you are ingame, go to Multiplayer and click on Add server .
Here Write a Server name and write ‘origins.paradoxisle.com’ in the Server address bar to join OriginsSMP server.
write ‘create.paradoxisle.com’ in the Server address bar to join Create Above and Beyond server.
Click Doneafter you filled in the forms/bars.

Now you are ready to join our modded server.
Once you login type /register (password) (confirmpassword) to register your account on our server.
